LISTEN TO OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH CATCHPENNY HERE!
Since their conception about one year ago, Catchpenny has demanded some serious attention from the right people. With their high energy shows, and a devotion to music that has been leaving crowds on their feet wanting more, Catchpenny has surpassed even their own aggressive goals as they approach the one year mark for the band in June of 2005.Catchpenny will play over 70 shows in their first year, finding their way into headlining spots in major markets such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee and opening for a variety of major recording artists. Along the way, they've picked up management, an exclusive booking agency, and recorded an album with some of the biggest names in music. Their first full length release, “Chance For A Lifetime,” was produced by Michael Bland (Prince, Soul Asylum), and co-produced and engineered by Brian Johnson . Other names lending a hand on the album include John Fields (Switchfoot, Mandy Moore, Evan and Jaron), Tommy Barbarella (Prince), Ken Chastain (Greazy Meal), among others. From sound-track ready "If I Fall" and "Raining" to pop rock tune "Leave the Light On" to "Covered Up" a piano based ballad, Chance For A Lifetime has struck a chord with people across a variety of demographics. To date, the album has sold over 1,300 copies since it's release in December and copies have been shipped all over the world. The title "Chance for a Lifetime" comes from the title track, a song written for CureDuchenne.org, a non-profit based out of Los Angeles that Catchpenny has aligned themselves with. 2005 will be an exciting and pivitol year for the group. With a major label showcase in Los Angeles in July, and confirmed dates at some of the biggest music festivals in the nation, Catchpenny will have the opportunity to play in front of thousands of new faces and a few faces that could potentially help Catchpenny find their way to the national level. If their first year was any indication of the drive, talent and determination of this group, 2005 should be a great year for the band.
THE BAND:
Brothers Christian and Zachary Schauf continue to grow into their positions as the voice of Catchpenny and Eric Raums guitar tones, licks and moves get a little sweeter with every show, but a few faces have changed.Original members Jeff Wick and Josh Anderson decided to leave the group in the Winter of 2004. No, this isn't a typical VH1 "Behind the Music" story of deciete, hate or 'creative differences'. Josh, a senior in high school, decided he wanted to focus his efforts on finishing school strong and doing well in college this fall. Jeff, from Milwaukee, found though the band was a tempting situation to be in, he just didn't feel the time was right for him to turn away from a great job, new house and living close to his tight-knit family. They will both stay involved with the band into the second year and Chris Eric and Zach couldn't be happier.Picking up where they leave off are Brennan Salibrici (bass) and Erick Ballard (drums). Two of Minneapolis's finest musicians, these guys made the transitions from their previous groups to Catchpenny after witnessing the waves Catchpenny has been making.
