Tracey: Tracey here, from Pop Blitz Magazine. We are talking with Kristy Frank, an up and coming pop music artist. Kristy, can you please introduce yourself?

Kristy: Hi, my name is Kristy Frank. I’m 15 years old and I’m signed with Ruffnation Records.

Tracey: For those unfamiliar with Kristy Frank, what can you tell us about yourself and your music?

Kristy: Well I’m a 15 year old fun loving. I mean it’s been a passion of mine since I could talk. This past year I’ve been recording my first album due out in 2006, this year. It’s kind of a mixture between Gwen Stefani and Sheryl Crow. It is pop/rock, and it’s just really fun music. I think it’s something really anyone can relate to.

Tracey: Your CD, entitled “Freedom” drops on March 28th. How psyched are you?

Kristy: Oh my gosh, I am seriously, this is what I’ve been waiting for my entire life so it’s basically my dream coming true. Who doesn’t want that? I’m excited for everything to kind of hit me. I’m ready to go on tour and start performing live. That’s what I love to do.

Tracey: I previewed the songs off your website. Good stuff. Love the lyrics. What is your favorite song off the album?

Kristy: Oh man, you know I was so fortunate to be able to work with so many different writers, people that work different ways, and use different songs. Although, I really can’t pick a favorite. Every one is so personal to me, and I have great memories about it. I don’t know. It’s not necessarily like picking a favorite song. It’s just, I was so fortunate to do the amazing things that I got. So I don’t know, I just don’t like to pick.

Tracey: So you like them all.

Kristy: I love them all.

Tracey: Touring the country in a Broadway musical, appearing on “Star Search”, as well as Ed McMahon’s “The Next Big Thing”, and performing over 100 live shows, all before the age of ten. Wow. That’s quite an accomplishment. How exactly did you get started performing?

Kristy: Those are all such good memories. I started dancing when I was 2 and a half. My first time on stage was when I was 3. When I started dancing the people, like my teacher had to tear me off the stage because I was just having so much fun. My parents knew I loved the stage, and loved to perform. I was just a little ham. They put me in singing lessons when I was 4. I started working with a traveling group called “___ Rising Stars”. We were performing everyday basically. It was such a wonderful experience, to be able to grow up that way, doing what you love. Then, after that, I did “Gypsy” and that was one of the most amazing experiences, cos I was performing every day for 2 months. It was the time of my life. After that then, I did Ed McMahon. So really, I’ve just been so blessed to be able to perform and do what I love, so much. It’s amazing to think that I’ve done over 100 shows, but it’s definitely true. More like over 200 now. It’s just so amazing that I get to do what I do.

Tracey: Especially that young.

Kristy: Yeah, I mean it’s my passion so. I’m very fortunate to have found what I love to do.

Tracey: Development deals for a cartoon series, a reality show, her own apparel and accessories lines, plus touring, recording, preparing to audition for a supporting role "As the world turns", and school. How do you find time to do it all?

Kristy: Well, I have lots of energy *laughs* I mean I really don’t think of it as doing work. It’s just I’m getting to play for a living. I get to work with people that I love to be around. I get to sing and make music and I mean school. Even though it’s school, I don’t think of it as a job as much. I just think of it as something that is going to benefit me so much, throughout my life. So you know, it’s just gotta get done and I don’t like to think of anything as a bad experience. You learn from every situation. I love my life and I’m so happy with everything that I’ve gotten to do with it so far.

Tracey: That’s great. You are also an actress. You have development deals in place for an animated feature film and cartoon series entitled "Rebel Girl," a reality show entitled "It's a Kristy Frank Life. What can you tell us about those shows?

Kristy: Well Rebel Girl is an animated feature film. It is about this girl named Kristy Frank. She’s a normal everyday girl by day but by night she’s a rockstar and none of her friends knew about it. Basically she’s like this loony toons, like major rebel. It’s so funny. It’s such the greatest concept for a show. She ends up being called into the future by her management, to save the world, one rock song at a time, from evil scientist Dr. Shock. It’s just been so much fun working on it, and learning how the voiceovers work. They’ve made me co-producer on the show as well, so that’s an amazing thing to be able to witness what goes on behind the scenes. And also the reality show, we’ve been taping me doing my shows and working out and unfortunately saying silly things, cos we all do that right.

Tracey: Nothing wrong with that.

Josh: No, nothing wrong with that. I remember the days when you’re singing in the shower.

Kristy: *Laughs* But I mean it’s been a really fun, interesting experience, to be able to watch everything happen. It’s been cool to be able to do that.

Tracey: Sounds cool. You toured the country playing Baby June in the Broadway musical "Gypsy”. What was that like?

Kristy: Oh my gosh, it was like I said just one of the best experiences. I got to do that when I was 2 years old. I definitely loved doing that. I definitely plan to do that in the future. Hopefully in Broadway in New York. That would be wonderful. It was just such a great comradely of people. Getting to learn new things, and getting to perform everyday, and sing, and work with different types of people. It was just such an amazing experience, that I would just love to repeat. Maybe once everything dies down from the album, maybe later in life I’ll be able to do that again.

Tracey: Maybe. You have plenty of time left.

Kristy: That’s for sure. *laughs*

Tracey: Is there any special plays you would like to be in?

Kristy: Well, there is. There is two, the dream roles I would love to play; in “Wicked” I would like to either play Elphaba or Glinda, and I would also like to play Belle in “Beauty and the Beast”. So hopefully those will work out.

Tracey: Well good luck on that.

Kristy: Thank you!

Tracey: Who are your inspirations?

Kristy: Gwen Stefani for sure. She is just amazing, her uniqueness and her sense of style, and her way of creating new styles of music that nobody has done before or even thought of. I just respect her for that so much. I also love Sheryl Crow, her ability to just be such a real artist, you know and lay all her songs, and just make beautiful music. I just respect both of them. Also, Mariah Carey has always been an idol of mine. Her voice, I strive to be half as good as she is. She is incredible.

Josh: I love Mariah Carey.

Kristy: *laughs* Yeah, there’s so many things you can take from different artists. They’re really great people to look up to, I guess.
