Phone Interview with Devon Werkheiser
12-5-05
(Nickelodean's "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide")

Our very first phone interview! The audio turned out real quiet, so we won't be able to put it up. Sorry for any missing parts, it was really hard to understand a lot of the interview.

Tracey here from Pop Blitz Magazine, along with special guest Josh who is going to be recording. We are talking with Devon Werkheiser, who plays Ned Bigly on Nickelodean’s, "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" Devon, could you please introduce yourself?
Devon: Hey guys, I’m Devon Werkheiser and I play Ned.
Tracey: It says you’re nickname is the Dev Monster. Where’d you get that from?
Devon: I got that nickname when I was a kid, cos I was a little rambunctious. I had the terrible two’s and three’s and I cried a lot when I was a baby and when I got older I was pretty wild and crazy.
Tracey: What do you like to do when you are not on set?
Devon: When I’m not on the set, well most of my friends are on the set so I normally hang out with them, play guitar, play videogames, see movies, board games.
Tracey: You’ve mentioned it would be fun to start a band with your friends. What would you name your band, and what style of music would you play?
Devon: Our style of music would definitely be ___ ooh and a band name, it would definitely have to be something ___.
Tracey: On the show, you give kids survival tips for surviving school. Can you give us 3, that you feel are most useful?
Devon: Make sure you know your real friends, and appreciate them. If you have a bad day, they are always there to back you up. Another tip, cut your teachers some slack. They are usually not out to get you. I mean if you fail, they fail. And third tip, do your work cos I know a lot of people do really good on tests, and don’t do their homework and they get bad grades. You know, you just gotta know part of it is doing your work.
Tracey: Alright, sounds good. How are you enjoying high school?
Devon: High school is fun, it’s totally different from middle school cos I went to real high school and it was great. I liked how in high school they don’t treat you like kids. They treat you with respect and you know high school homeschool, is eh it’s alright.
Tracey: What is your favorite school subject?
Devon: My favorite school subject, probably I love to write stories.
Tracey: How many hours do you go to school for?
Devon: Basically I have to be there 3 hours, which most kids are like what, 3 hours of school, but between break and lunch and you know all that.
Tracey: What are you classified in school as (jock, class clown, etc.) and do you belong to any after school activities?
Devon: I’ve never been considered one, but if anything class clown.
Tracey: Do your friends and the kids at school treat you any differently?
Devon: No, cos most of my friends I’ve known forever and they don’t really care that I’m on the show. Actually they make fun of me sometimes for what happens on the show, but they don’t really treat me differently. It’s kind of funny they’re like “oh Mr. Hollywood” .
Tracey: What’s on your wish list this Christmas?
Devon: Xbox 360. That’s a big one on my wish list. A few Xbox 360 games, clothes are always good, ipod accessories are always good.
Tracey: Yeah, one of my friends won an Xbox 360.
Devon: He won one?!
Tracey: Yeah, Mt. Dew.
Devon:Wow.
Josh: Can never get off the IPod either.
Devon: That’s awesome. I want to win one.
Tracey: You should put it on your Christmas list.
Devon: Yeah I know, but even if I did I don’t think my parents would want to pay for something that I would be nonstop playing, take away from other things.
Tracey: Like homework.
Devon: Yeah.
Tracey: True, but you never know. What’s your favorite winter activity?
Devon: My favorite winter activity. I ski’d once 3 years ago. I haven’t done it since, but if I could I would ski a bunch. In LA it never snows, it’s not even cold.
Tracey: Well there’s plenty of it here. If a genie granted you 3 wishes, what would they be?
Devon: Wow everyone always says they would want to fly. I think that would be cool.
Tracey: And for our final question, is there anything you would like to say to Pop Blitz readers?
Devon: To all the people watching the show, I hope you still find it funny and I love you.
Tracey: Thank you Devon, for taking the time out to talk with us today.
Devon: No problem!
Tracey: Hope you have a great holidays!
