It’s Tracey, along with Donna and Michelle.  We are here with Minneapolis native rock band, CATCHpenny.  Would you guys please introduce yourselves?

Eric: I’m Eric.  I play lead guitar.

Chris:  My name is Chris, and  I play guitar and sing.

Zach:  I’m Zach.  I play guitar and piano and sing.

How did you guys get started?

Chris:  We got started, actually Zach and I played in a band together.  Almost 2 years ago, put an original band together and started looking for some new guys.  And Zach found Eric and that was pretty much it.  Right?  Should we tell more then that?

Eric: I concur.

Tracey: Doesn’t matter, whatever.

Chris: That’s about it.  That’s all I can.

Eric:  Yeah, I was playing guitar at a church thing.  I go to Bethel College and I was playing guitar  ____ there, and Zach and Christian found me and came up afterwards and talked to me.  And that’s kind of how I got involved.

Zach: Turned out Eric grew up about 20 minutes north of us, back in our hometown in Wisconsin.

Tracey:  Weird.

Zach: Very weird.  Very small too.

Who are your biggest influences and why?

All: Captain ___ *laughs*

Eric: I was going to say that!

Chris:  Do you know what that’s from?

Tracey: No.

Chris:  That’s from that movie, “That Thing You Do”.

Tracey: Haven’t seen that.

Chris: You gotta see that.

Eric: Oh, that’s the best movie.

I think it’s influences.

Musical influences?

I would say right now our biggest influences are the people we’re working with.

Michael Bland from Prince.

Phil Solem from The Rembrandts.

Basically, I mean we’ve got a lot of bands that we like, that we listen to.  But these guys have really like taken us under their wing.

Is this going to be played back somewhere?

Tracey:  Maybe, if you want.

Oh okay.  I don’t know if I should be like enunciating super clearly.

Tracey:  No, some of the interviews we’ve done so far they’ve been like “um uh well so I….”

Okay.  Gotcha.  You know, you talk about influences.  The thing is, those guys have really been like “here, listen to this, study this” and they draw from such a wide range of music, it really helps us.  Like Mike influencing us, is like being influenced by 50 bands.  He picks what he likes, and shows us what’s cool.  I mean, he’s such a great musician so really Phil’s influence and Mike’s influence, and people like that have really been our main influences.  You want us to list some bands though?

Tracey:  Sure.

Led Zepplin.

The Beatles

Jimmy Hendrix

Chris:  All the classic stuff.  There’s a lot of current bands out there that I think are really cool.  But you know.  We listen to Switchfoot a lot, bands like that, modern bands, that do really smart things.  They’re really cool.  Yeah, I think that’s about it.

Yep.
